Create DB from Excel



This is a very handy feature to create the database structure by using excel files, especially for someone who finds it difficult to create a database via traditional approaches. By using this feature you can define database structures easily. You can create databases of the following Types.

1. MS SQL

2. MySQL

3. SQLite

4. MS Access


Click on Create DB from Excel in Tools menu.


The DB Creator will open.




Click on Template Button.

This will open the Excel Template file.




Enter the table name, field names and select the required fields like Data type, Length, Required, Primary Key, Reference Key, Reference Table etc.



Here you can create any number of tables at a time.

Save the Template Excel Sheet in the particular directory that has read and write permission.

Select the Database type in the DB Creator.




MS SQL

Note: If you are creating the Database in the “MS SQL Server with Windows Authentication”, select the MS SQL Integrated Security option.


Enter the Server Credentials.




If you are creating the Database in the “MS SQL Server with Server Authentication”, select the MS SQL option.



Enter the Server Credentials.



To test the connection click on the Test connection button. You will get a confirmation message upon success upon providing proper credentials.




Enter the Database name, which you want to create on the server. (Please ensure that given database is not present in your server already).


Select the Excel Sheet where you have created the table structure using the Template.



Then Click on the Create button.

After creation of the database and its tables, a confirmation message appears.



MySQL

For MySQL Database, select the MySQL option from the list.



Select the path of the MySQL Database drivers which are installed in your system.


Note: The Reference files can be found in the following location
Path : C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Connector Net 6.6.5\Assemblies\v2.0\MySQL.Data.dll




Enter the Server Credentials.



To test the connection click on the Test connection button. You will get a confirmation message if you have provided the proper credentials.



Enter the Database name, which you want to create on the server. (Please ensure that given database is not present in your server already).



Select the Excel file where you have created the table structure using the Template.



Then Click on the Create button.

After creation of the database and its tables, a confirmation message appears.



SQLite



Select the location where the SQLite Database file has to be created.



Enter the Database name, which is considered as the file name.



Select the Excel file in which you have created the table structure using the Template.



Then Click on the Create button.

After creation of the database and its tables (DB file), a confirmation message appears.



MS Access



Select the location where the MS Access Database file has to be created.



Enter the Database name, whichis considered as the file name.



Select the Excel file where you have created the table structure using the Template.



Then Click on the Create button.

After creation of the database and its tables (DB file), a confirmation message appears.



Another useful feature of Kushal is the creation of SQL Queries of the created database.

Click on SQL Button.



All queries of the Database will get created in the text file (Create statements) using which entire database schema can be regenerated instantaneously.
